A Dash of Boy

Baby DASHIELL PAUL KINNEY was born on November 21, 2009 at 6:15 pm. He was 7 lbs, 11 oz and 19 inches long and wow, what a sweet, bundle of baby boy joy he turned out to be! We love our brother!!! Here are some shots of the momentous day and week.... xoxo S & V

A Little Piece of Hoosier...

came to visit us this past week. Mama Vi & Baba Bill were in town to get some much needed QT with sis and I. It was a great visit. They also got to share in the Daddy birthday festivities, which is always a hootananny. Here are some pics of us in the fine, embroidered aprons Mama Vi brought back from her last trip to Italy. We love it when they come to visit and can't wait to see them again in December! xoxo S&V

It's my Daddy's Birthday!

Dear Daddy,

To quote our favorite literary diva, Fancy Nancy, you are fabulous, marvelous and all things extraordinary and we love you to pieces. May today be the best day of your life and may you indulge in every last bite of our pink, chocolate chip cake-tacular. We love you!!!

Halloween: East Sac Style

So, we went through 10 bags of candy at our house, M&D estimate that we must have had some 100 trick or treaters. When we ran out of candy, Daddy promptly turned the lights off and hoped the teenagers that were out past 10pm would stop ringing our doorbell (they did not). We had a blast, though, with our BFF's Lily & Annabel Govenar. We trick or treated for about an hour on our street and then headed home for some pizza and play time. All in all, a wonderful Halloween! xoxo S&V

Pumpkin Carving...

is not for the wimpy! Mommy almost went into labor last night trying to gut one of our ginormous pumpkins. We had a good time watching her slave away, dissecting the innards of this orange beast. Auntie TT and Grammy also helped with the endeavor. I even got to hold a knife at one point (promptly taken away by Mommy and replaced with a paint brush). VV much preferred the stickers and coloring to the actual carving. Here are some pics of our carving extravaganza.

6 weeks and counting...

so, Mommy is due to have our baby brother in 6 weeks. I know... it's crazy, people! We can't wait to meet our baby brother. In the midst of Mom's already crazy, Type-A tendencies, she is nesting like a freakazoid and therefore taking her anxious OCD to new, higher levels. The baby's room is almost done (minus his tailored roman shades-- coming this week!). Daddy bought Mommy her behemoth Cadillac Escalade ESV yesterday so that baby boy can fit comfortably in his own car seat and not be strapped to the roof of her old car. While all of this bustling was going on, Mommy also decided to take pregnancy/family shots with her dear friend, Lauri Levenfeld of Zoom Photography (http://zoomphotography.net/) as a last hurrah and a precursor to the infamous Kinney Christmas card. This year's will have an added bonus, a picture of baby boy... that is if he's not 3 weeks late ;)

Here are some shots of the past week and some candids of Lauri photographing us :)

Mickey, I mean, Minnie Mouse here...

In honor of my second birthday yesterday, M&D threw me a costume gala at the casa. We had 30 kids all donning their best costumes. I was Mickey Mouse... well, technically I was "Minnie," but Mommy and Daddy didn't have the heart to correct me. It was a spectacular day and boy was I pooped when all was over. Ms. Cathy conducted a music class for the group and we had a ladybug there doing balloons and face painting. She may have been off of her rocker, but we didn't care... heck, the weirder the better ;) Here are some shots of my big day. Happy Birthday to ME!!! xoxo V-V

Grammy's Birthday!

M&D hosted the famdanga at our casa last night in honor of Grammy Jo turning 52. That's right... she's now TWO years past 50 and well, if we don't say so ourselves, she looks MARVELOUS. Grammy has been working out and watching what she eats and boy does it show. Go Grammy Go! We love you! Here are some pics of our fab night. xoxo S&V

Ask (nicely and with a sweet smile) and you shall receive...

So, for months VV and I have been bugging Mom and Dad for a deluxe playhouse outside... a castle, to be straight. It wasn't until we cuddled up with Grampy on the couch during our daily "Go Diego Go" viewing and whispered sweet nothings into his ear, specifically our desire for a Kinney Castle, that our demands were met. Grampy, being the softie that he is, couldn't resist his precious granddaughters (we are precious, if I don't say so myself!) and got to work getting bids from subcontractors the next day. Grammy designed the house, Grampy got his men to build it and wahhh laaaa... the pictures display a little piece of the Kinney girls' outdoor heaven. We have had a blast playing in it and darting down the slide at light speed. Thank you, Daddy, for footing the bill and thanks to Grammy and Grampy for your design-build team effort. We love it! xoxo Stella & Violet

I want this one and that one, and that one and this one...

After a 50 minute escapade through the streets of Roseville looking for a pumpkin patch that apparently hasn't existed in two years, Daddy decided to turn the car back around on I-80 and head toward Natomas' Bastiao Farms. A patch we visited last year with lots of fun. We walked away with 18 pumpkins (okay, okay, some were small gords)!!! Mommy just can't say no sometimes.

Happy Friday to Everyone!

Just another week in the life of the Kinney girls... haircuts, play time and lots of sisterly love... xoxo S&V
PS. Doesn't it look like my sister, Violet, has a wig on? The kid has a lot of hair! :)

Nesting 101

As Mommy "nests," V and I get to watch in awe at what many, ahem-- okay mostly just Daddy-- call insane behavior. Cleaning closets, organizing toys, disinfecting and laundering even the cleanest of items, and finally, having a monster garage sale to ultimately purge her sinful purchases of past.

Today was THE day. Yard sale day-- it did not disappoint. Weather was mild, a cool 82 degrees and the crowd grew with every hour. Everything sold, with the exception of a few minor items that we quickly sent to Goodwill. A fortune was made by all... now, off to dinner and ice cream. Here are some pics of our nesting delirium by osmosis (notice I'm wearing Mommy's stinky Converse worn during a day of schlepping yard sale items). Enjoy!
